Like I said, it's not fair for me to give a review! I'm addicted to this series. I've paid and read all 21 books... and I've read some of the others too. I can put one down, pick it up, finish it and then buy the next. The characters are kind of like friends and we catch up.I live in California .... and I am still waiting for Parish and Richards to make a trip over! My daughter lives in London, and my husband was from Guildford before becoming a Californian. I enjoy quizzing him on various aspects of the book.. "where is...?
What does this mean? " I speak American. Sometimes my husband has to translate... it's fun! If you are going to start reading this book, buy it, then buy book # 1 and read it first. When getting to know new friends, it's good to start at the beginning.

In this, my 21st review in this series I find a new Ellis. Here he balances 5 vs the standard 4 story lines. Here he wraps them all up in the last ten percent of the novel (!) and here he again lays the groundwork for the next book in this remarkable series. He never stops being humorous. Witness the humorless repartes scattered throughout the book such as "you have me - a pillar of the community to support you. A pillock of the community, more like.". His crimes are generally unspeakable events and I wonder what dark part of his mind can create them, but create them he does. I admire him more than words can convey and believe if you read him, so will you! If you do read him, prepare to keep coming back!!!
